How much does a Nanny cost?For standard Nanny positions, Nanny hourly rate varies by State and other factors such as candidate's experience and education, job responsibilities and schedule, and other employee benefits. In the Midwest, including Ohio, the hourly pay for a nanny usually ranges from $20 to $30. Nanny hourly rate is higher in other states with a higher cost of living and can rang from $30 to $40 and in some cases $50 plus per hour. What is our tax obligation after hiring a nanny or a household employees?As a household employer, payroll tax compliance is your responsibility. You are required to pay taxes for the Nanny and other household employees you hire, and you are required to issue your household employees with a W-2. Learn more about household payroll solutions in the next FAQ. Household employees are not independent contractors and they should not get a 1099. Publicly funded child care program such as independent care providers who work with department of disability are exceptions and do receive a 1099.

What household payroll services do you recommend and how much payroll services cost?If you don't want to engage with a CPA for payroll services, there are many user friendly Nanny tax and household payroll services that you can use to pay your Nanny and domestic workers and file their taxes. Some popular payroll services include HomeWork Solutions, GTM Payroll Services, SurePayroll, and Poppins. Families can expect to spend between $30 and $100 per employee per month on payroll services.

How much is your Agency's engagement fee?Magnolia Academy charges a one-time $350 engagement fee which will eventually be deducted from the agency's final one-time commission.

What common benefits are typically offered to nannies?Common nanny benefits include guaranteed hours and overtime pay, paid time off (vacation and sick days) and paid holidays, health insurance stipend, mileage reimbursement, some annual bonuses, and 401K contribution.

Are we required to offer a minimum length of employment to our Nanny?No, our agency doesn't not require a minimum length of employment. We offer placement for long-term, short-term and temp positions.

Does your agency help us to create a work agreement for us and our Nanny or other Domestic workers?Yes, we provide you and the candidate with a sample work agreement to review once you get to the hiring stage . We work with both parties to make sure everyone is on the same page and everyone's questions are answered.

Do you offer guidance and tips throughout our engagement with different candidates?Yes, we check in with you at each step of the process and we offer tips and guidance at each stage. We want to make sure that all of your questions and concerns are addressed. Our ongoing support continues even after you and the right candidate start working together.

What if I am no longer happy with the candidate I chose to hire?Our agency offers a free replacement within the first 90 days of a new hire, and has a limited replacement policy within the first year of a new hire.

How many nanny or domestic workers candidates will you introduce?We introduce you to a minimum of three candidates. Most families review between 3-5 candidate's profiles that we have selected for them, and make an offer to one of these candidates.

What does your agency typically require from us to introduce Nannies and other Domestic Workers?After an initial consult, the next steps typically involve reviewing and signing the Placement Agreement and taking the $350 engagement fee. This fee will eventually be deducted from the agency's final one-time commission. We also conduct an in-depth examination of your parenting style and preferences, what qualifications you are exactly looking for in a childcare provider, and all other details about this particular search. Since some positions may take some time to find the most qualified individual, we encourage you to engage with us as soon as you can.

Do you offer tips for how to interview candidates?Yes, we do offer tips for how to be prepared and how to conduct effective interviews once we get to that step.

How do we interview the candidates who are introduced to us and what's next step after that?Once you review the candidates applications that are sent to you, we assist you to schedule a virtual interview with candidates through virtual meeting platforms such as FaceTime, Zoom, Google Meet, FB messenger, or any other platform that you prefer. After the virtual meeting, we ask for both parties feedback and we help you to schedule an-in person meeting with candidates of your choice. In-person meetings can take place either in a public place or at your house, whichever you prefer. After in-person meetings, the next step would be scheduling a few training/trial sessions at your house to have a better understanding of that candidate's performance. And the last step is offering the job to the candidate who you think would be the best match for your family. We offer guidance and support at each of these steps.

How long does the search process for a nanny or other types of in-home childcare provider take?Although the search, for standard jobs, can be as short as a few days and up to three weeks, we encourage you to engage with us as soon as possible. In some cases, you should begin your search months in advance, since some positions may take some time to find the most qualified individual. Engaging with us as soon as possible will definitely help us in navigating the search more effectively.
